Does the sponsor pay through the site?

They can. The invoice email links a page with the amount and a Pay button; they finish on your own Square, Stripe, or PayPal checkout, or mail a check if that’s how you set the invoice up. No account to create. A sponsor who paid some other way gets recorded, not invoiced.
