The page that used to disappear

A car show’s website has always had the lifespan of a mayfly. The event ends, the page goes stale or gets taken down, the link on last year’s flyer dies, and the printed QR codes in somebody’s garage point at nothing. All the proof that the show happened, that it was good, that a ’32 Ford took Best of Show in front of four hundred people, evaporates.

As of this week, that stops being true for shows on Car Show HQ. This release is mostly about what happens to your show after the last trophy, and it is the biggest set of changes we have shipped since judged scoring.

Winners, on the record

Every show now keeps its web address forever. Once you finalize results, the page grows a Winners section: the winning car in every class and special award, with its year, make, and model, the owner’s name, and the vote count or judged points behind the win. Those numbers come from the same immutable vote and scorecard records the live tally used, so the archived result is not a summary somebody typed up. It is the count.

There is a Photos area in the manage side to go with it. Batch-upload gallery shots, caption them, and they render in a grid on the public page. The show your volunteers spent a year on now has a page that reads like a yearbook instead of an expired ticket.

We think the archive quietly changes the registration math too. Last year’s winners are the most convincing thing a returning entrant can land on, and the archive page links straight to the club’s other shows. Your best marketing asset was always the show you already ran. Now it stays published.

Search and social, handled

Alongside the archive, every club site now ships with the search and social groundwork an agency would normally bill for. Each show gets a clean, shareable address with one canonical URL per page, and when next year’s show goes up, old links and printed QR codes redirect instead of breaking. Paste a show link into Facebook, Messenger, or a group chat and it unfurls with the show’s hero image or flyer and a real description. Show pages carry event structured data for search engines, every page has a proper meta description, each domain gets a sitemap listing only real pages, and utility screens like the ballot and kiosk stay out of Google.

We will not promise you rankings. Nobody honest can. What we can say is that the technical checklist is done, on every show, without anyone at your club learning what a canonical URL is.

Also in this release

Three smaller things shipped with it.

Clubs can add their Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, and website links once in branding settings, and a follow row appears on their show pages, styled to match everything else.

Organizers can now email everyone registered for a show from a dedicated screen: subject, message, a live recipient count, a confirmation step, and a history of what was sent. Compliance is handled for you, since every email carries one-click unsubscribe and the list automatically excludes cancellations and opt-outs. Only owner and admin roles can send, which your volunteers will appreciate exactly once, the day someone almost emails four hundred people a test message.

And the first time you open your dashboard, a two-minute guided tour walks through the seven screens that matter. Exit whenever, retake it from the Take a tour button. Staff can learn the dashboard the morning of the show, which in our experience is when staff learn things.

The dashboard itself got a rebuild worth mentioning while we are here. The Show controls card is now a six-stage lifecycle, draft through archived, with a single obvious next-step button and live tiles showing exactly what the public can do right now: register, vote, judge. If you asked us what running a show on Car Show HQ feels like, that card is the screen we would show you.

Next year starts now

If you run a show on Car Show HQ this season, the archive works without you doing anything beyond finalizing results and, if you like, uploading photos. If you are still deciding, the live demo show is open to click through, and the start page takes about a minute to fill out. The show you run this year is the sales pitch for the one you run next year. It may as well stay online.
